If you have a slow cooker, then this is a simple, healthy meal that is simple to prepare. This chili is warm, hearty, and a little bit sweet with the addition of the sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are also an excellent source of Vitamin A and C.
This slow cooker chili is great for weeknight meals, as it is easy to prepare, and you can leave it cooking all day to be ready to go right before dinner—that means no rushing and cleaning before dinnertime! Great for busy weeknights when the kids have soccer, dance class, or after-school activities and are ready to dive into something filling when everyone sits down at the table.
You can use any type of ground meat you like—we used extra-lean ground beef to reduce the fat content, as it is not needed in this chili recipe. Feel free to use turkey, or even pork! And you can easily substitute chicken broth for beef broth if you choose to use another type of meat. Don’t skip the browning step, even if it means an extra dish to clean. The browning helps to enhance the flavour of the chili by adding a nice caramelization to the meat.
